The U.S. Army has reportedly halted acceptance of deliveries of the AH-64E Apache variant from Boeing. Reports say there is concern over a suspect main rotor retaining nut that keeps rotor blades from tearing loose from the helicopter mid-flight.
The AH-64E has been involved in at least seven of the 133 aviation mishaps that have occurred since 2013. Two soldiers were killed April 7 when their AH-64E crashed during a routine training mission near Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
