Boeing and Rohde & Schwartz have reached an agreement to offer Rohde & Schwartz’s next-generation software-defined airborne radio (SDAR) into the flight systems of H-47 Chinook helicopters.

The system will give operators of the Chinook communications capabilities such as tailorable encryption, frequency hopping, agility, as well as other voice and data connectivity features.

Boeing has delivered more than 900 H-47 Chinook helicopters. The H-47 Chinook is on order or in operation in 20 countries. Eight nations are a part of NATO, allowing for increased interoperability between them during joint training and deployment operations.
