Enstrom Helicopter Corporation has certified Appareo's Vision 1000 for the Enstrom 480B. The system received FAA certification in June, followed by EASA and Brazil's DAC. It's currently awaiting Chinese CAAC and Argentinian CAA certifications.
The Vision 1000 is a cockpit recording device that captures attitude data, WAAS GPS, cockpit imaging and ambient audio. The equipment can be installed in a day in new or older helicopters, said Enstrom's director of sales and marketing, Dennis Martin.
Appareo was one of the earliest manufacturers of flight data monitoring equipment. Appareo offers a software program called ALERTS, or Aircraft Logging and Event Recording for Training and Safety, alongside the Vision 1000 to allow for automated analysis.
Since 2013, Airbus Helicopters, which was a partner in the development of the system, has been making the Vision 1000 standard on all production helicopters except the H120.
