Coptersafety has received Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certificates for its Airbus Helicopters H145 and two Leonardo AW139 full-flight simulators. They have been certified to the highest certification level, Level D.

With the certifications, civil and commercial helicopter pilots in China can train at Coptersafety's training base in Finland.

China's helicopter market is quickly growing. It is estimated the greatest demand for pilots around the world will be in the Asia-Pacific region from now through 2037, according to a Coptersafety statement.

“This certification marks an important milestone for our whole training base,” said Mikko Dahlman, CEO of Coptersafety. “Our vision is to improve the safety of helicopter operations worldwide. The CAAC certificates enable us to live up to our vision to improve the safety of helicopter operations, now also in the Chinese market where there is an increasing demand to train rotary-wing pilots. We have about 40 skilled professionals, including more than 20 excellent flight instructors. They all play a part in helping us exceed the industry standards worldwide.”

All Coptersafety's current simulators have received European Aviation Safety Agency certification.

Airbus and Leonardo also see opportunity in the helicopter market in China. Airbus has said that market experienced 20% annual growth in recent years.
